How to Join or Renew Membership

Experienced flyers may contact a Lake Sawyer Hawks member and arrange for flying at our field to determine if they want to join our club. Members can answer questions about flying conditions and the posted field rules. All new members must complete a Check Flight before flying solo. Contact a club Officer to complete a Check Flight.

New to RC flyers that want some flight instruction before completing a Check Flight may also visit the field with a Lake Sawyer Hawks member to observe a member flying. They can also answer questions about flying conditions, recommended trainer planes, R/C equipment, and the posted field rules. Contact Randy Ling to arrange for flight instruction.

After deciding to join our club, new members must have Full or Youth Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) Membership, then complete a Lake Sawyer Hawks Membership Application (required annually). Membership runs from January 1 to December 31.

New or renewing members may join after October 1 for the remainder of the current year and the next annual dues period.

Release and Indemnity Agreement

I state that I wish to participate in course and/or activities offered by the Lake Sawyer Hawks, Radio Control Model Flying Club, (hereinafter referred to as "Hawks").

I RECOGNIZE THAT ANY HAWKS CLUB ACTIVITIES MAY INVOLVE CERTAIN DANGERS. I certify that I am aware of all the inherent danger of Hawks Club activities including, but not limited to: weather conditions, inexperience, accidents or illness in remote areas without medical facilities, the actions of any other members, any participants or any other persons, all of which may result in personal injury, including death, property damage or other losses.

In consideration for the right to participate in LAKE SAWYER HAWKS CLUB activities, I HEREBY RELEASE THE HAWKS CLUB AND ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, INSTRUCTORS, MEMBERS, AND KING COUNTY FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY, CLAIMS AND CAUSES OF ACTION ARISING OUT OF OR IN ANY WAY CONNECTED WITH MY PARTICIPATION IN ANY HAWKS CLUB ACTIVITIES AND FURTHER AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE HAWKS CLUB AND ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, INSTRUCTORS, MEMBERS, AND KING COUNTY FROM ALL LIABILITY, CLAIMS AND CAUSES OF ACTION WHICH I MAY HAVE ARISING FROM MY PARTICIPATION IN HAWKS CLUB ACTIVITIES. The terms of this agreement will serve as a release and indemnity agreement for my heirs, personal representative, and for all members of my family, including minors.

I further state that I am (19) years of age or older and legally competent to sign this release, that I understand these terms are contractual and not mere recital, and that I have signed this document as my own free act. Parents or legal guardians must sign for all persons under nineteen (19) years of age.

2024 Marlow Anderson R/C Airfield - Safety Rules and Regulations

SAFETY IS THE FIRST PRIORITY. Do not fly in a reckless, careless, or dangerous manner.
Smoking is NOT allowed anywhere, anytime within the fenced area.
No fires allowed anywhere, anytime within fenced area.
Alcoholic beverages or other legal intoxicating substances are NOT ALLOWED within the fenced area.
No RC aircraft shall display any hate markings.
Maximum model weight is 20 pounds.
AMA Membership is mandatory for all pilots and must be valid.
You must be a current Lake Sawyer Hawks Member to fly, unless a guest of a member.
New members must demonstrate proficiency before flying solo.
All flights will be within the fenced area of Anderson Field.
Intentional flying behind the pits is prohibited.
If you are sharing a frequency, inform other pilots of the frequency you are using.
All new, repaired, or altered aircraft will be range checked and undergo a safety inspection prior to flight.
All aircraft must have identification as required by FAA and AMA. Pilots are responsible for meeting FAA requirements.
A maximum of four aircraft on the flight line at once.
One flyer per flight station. Using a spotter is recommended.
The east-west runway is only used for takeoffs.
The main runway can be used for takeoffs and landings.
Pilots must announce intentions to other active flyers (e.g. "taking off," "landing," "dead stick," "on the runway").
Pilots will give right of way to, and avoid flying near, full-scale aircraft.
Spectators and pets must remain in the grassy area west of the pit area or in the parking area.
All powered aircraft shall be electric powered (no internal combustion engines allowed).
Electric aircraft must produce sound levels at or below 79db at 25 feet.
Motors are to be shut down near the flight station. No taxiing into the pit area.
Clean up your area. If you pack it in, pack it out.
Pilots are liable and financially responsible for their aircraft’s actions and any damages caused.
No overnight camping.

How to Pay Club Dues

Please do not mail cash payments; if you prefer cash, arrangements can be made. Our preferred method is paying dues via PayPal at:

Use "Send money to friends and family" to avoid service charges. If your PayPal account name differs from your legal name, please include your legal name in the "Add a note" field so we can record your payment correctly.

If you do not have a PayPal account, you can create one at www.paypal.com. Link your bank account and load sufficient funds to cover your fees.

It usually takes 3 to 5 days for your PayPal account to process. Then, in PayPal, pay your club dues to: rc.hawks.treasurer@gmail.com using "Send money to friends and family" to avoid extra charges.

Alternatively, you may pay by check made payable to "Lake Sawyer Hawks". Cash or Checks are accepted only at club meetings, or at the field by appointment with Randy Ling.

Eligibility and Registration

Club Facilities and Operating Hours
- Location: pClub activities take place on a gated King County Parks site designated for RC aircraft operations.
- Operating Hours: The field is available for use from sunup to sundown. Members are expected to adhere to these hours, ensuring the site is secure outside of these times.
Aircraft and Equipment Guidelines
- Power Source: All aircraft flown by members must be powered by electric motors only. The use of gas or glow engines is strictly prohibited.
- Safety Compliance: Members must ensure that their equipment meets all safety standards and that flights are conducted in a manner that minimizes risk to people, property, and the environment.
Member Conduct and Safety
- Conduct: Members are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and responsible manner at all times. This includes following all Club safety rules, instructions from Club officials, and any additional guidelines provided on-site.
- Safety: Participation in Club activities is at your own risk. Members must observe all posted safety notices and ensure that their actions do not endanger themselves or others. Any unsafe behavior may result in suspension or termination of membership.
Website Use and Account Security

Purpose: The registration website is provided solely for the purpose of managing Club memberships and related communications.
Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. Any unauthorized use of your account should be reported immediately to the Club.

Liability and Indemnification

Assumption of Risk: By participating in Club activities, you acknowledge that you are doing so at your own risk. The Club, its officers, and its volunteers are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage that may occur, except where caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Club and its representatives from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your participation in Club activities.>
